Zella S. Ruffin

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith" ZELLA S. RUFFIN, age 73, of Cuba, Alabama, born December 19, 1947 to the union of the late John Robert and Annie Mary Hull Straight, transitioned and entered into eternal rest September 25, 2021 at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation, York, Alabama surrounded by family and loved ones. Graveside Service of Memory and Life Celebration is slated for Sunday, October 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Morning Star Cemetery, Dove 2, also Cuba. Rev. Willie Wilson will deliver the eulogy offering words of comfort and consolation. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Saturday evening (Oct. 2nd) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. Zella accepted Christ at an early age and united with the Morning Star Baptist Church in Cuba. She served faithfully on the Usher Board until her health began to fail. She was employed at Avery Denison in Meridian, Mississippi for 24 years. While there she was dedicated to her job as a machine operator. As she retired in 2017, it gave her the opportunity to enjoy her family and to grow her plants that she had a great love for nurturing. She leaves to cherish precious memories: a loving son, Donovin (Quaniotte) Ruffin; a loving devoted daughter, Yolanda (Tommy) Robinson; (4) four grandsons - LeDerris Gibbs, Julian, Donovin Jr and Keiman Ruffin; one granddaughter, Shanquita Ruffin; one great granddaughter, Sa'Riah Gibbs; two sisters, Flossie Straight, Cuba AL and Martha Lee of Birmingham, AL; two brothers, Robert Straight and Bruce McVay of Cuba, AL; four (4) brothers-in-law, William, Charles, Robert and Ray Ruffin; one sister-in-law Kendra (Dreckus) Garner; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
