William Henry Walker

August 28, 1953 — June 22, 2021

WILLIAM HENRY WALKER, age 67, of Cleveland, Ohio, born to the late William and Katherine Wallace Walker on August 28, 1953 in Cuba, Sumter County; Alabama, transitioned and entered into eternal rest June 22, 2021 at 1:25 p.m. in Good Shephard Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility, Ashland, Ohio. Graveside Service of Memory with Military Detail and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. in Morning Star Cemetery, Cuba. Rev. Richard Wilson, pastor of Smith Chapel Baptist Church, York, will deliver the eulogy and offer words of comfort and consolation. Visitation for family and friends is Friday, (July 2nd) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. Mr. Walker confessed Christ at an early age and continued to serve and speak the word until he was unable to. His 67 years of life were full of Wisdom and Knowledge. After graduating from Sumter County High School, he chose to join the military and selected the United States Army in 1972. He served his country as a dedicated truck driver and was honorably discharged out of the Army in 1975. Mr. Walker tried out different careers, but his heart was only tied to two of them. He worked with General Motors in Detroit, Michigan for over 12 years. After General Motors shut down, he moved to Cleveland, Ohio to work and retired with the RTA bus transit system. He was a dedicated driver with RTA for over 15 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. William and Katherine Walker; one sister, Rosie Gaston and two brothers, Tommy Spencer Walker and Ananias Walker. Those left to cherish his precious memories are three daughters; Slyterica White of Birmingham, Alabama, Temeka Mumford of Sumter, South Carolina and Bethany Ficarotta (Dominic) of Tampa Florida; one son Michael Walker of Ann Arbor, Michigan; three sisters, Priscilla Walker and Willie Walker, both of Cleveland, Ohio and Pauline Hill-Lake of Cuba, Alabama; three brothers, Carl Walker, Fred Walker and Roosevelt Lake of Cuba, Alabama; two special nephews, Roy Walker (Deloris) of Saginaw, Michigan and Steven Walker (Kamilah) of Kansas City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Timothy White and Fredricka Mincey (George) of Birmingham, Alabama; two great-grandchildren, Jada and Jordyn Mincey of Birmingham, Alabama and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends who loved him dearly.
