Sherry Diane Foster

SHERRY DIANE FOSTER, age 65, of Lithonia, Georgia,  was the eighth of twelve children born to the late Amanda and Mathew Foster, Sr.  She entered into eternal rest July 5, 2017.               Service of Remembrance will be held, Friday, July 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from Union Chapel C.M.E. Church, 5277 Sumter 9, Ward, Alabama.  Sherry is to lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.  Rev. Walter Ball will deliver the eulogy and offer words of comfort and consolation;  Rev. James Campbell is church pastor.  Interment follows in Coakes Chapel Cemetery, also on Sumter 9, Ward.  After the committal service, repast is in the Fellowship Hall of Union Chapel.  Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Thursday evening (July 13th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel.  On Friday afternoon at 12:40, the processional leaves from the Foster Family residence, located 5684 Sumter 9, Cuba, Alabama  36907.       Sherry is a product of the Sumter County Alabama school system graduating from Sumter County High School, York, AL. in 1970. Following high school, Sherry enrolled at Alabama State University graduating in May of 1976 with a BA degree in Library Science.  Her professional career as an educator spans many years to include employment with the McDuffie County Georgia Board of Education and the Henry County Georgia Board of Education as a Media Specialist where she remained until retirement in 2008.              As a member of First St. Paul AME Church, Lithonia, Sherry served faithfully as a member of the Usher Board.  She was also a member of various organizations including but is not limited to Ruth Chapter #102, Order of the Eastern Star, where she served as Past Matron and Nabbar Court #123 where she served as Past Commandress.       Those who celebrate her life and cherish precious memories are:  (1) child, Marcus Anthony Foster who preceded her in death; one grandchild- Markus (MJ) Foster, five (5) brothers, four (4) sisters, one (1) aunt and many other relatives and friends who truly loved her and she will be missed by all.
