SHEILA JEAN STURDIVANT LARD, age 62 of York, Alabama, was born April 7, 1961 in Birmingham; Jefferson County, Alabama, the sixth child of ten born to the union of J. T. (Isiah) and Bettie Burns Sturdivant. Sheila grew up in York, Alabama and was educated in the Sumter County School System graduating from Sumter High in 1979. She accepted Christ as her Saviour at an early age and joined Johnson Baptist Church in 2000 under the leadership of Rev. Samuel J. Harris. Sheila entered into eternal rest July 31, 2023 at her residence surrounded by loving family. Service of Remembrance and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from Johnson Baptist Church, located 2600 Carl Turk 12, Livingston, with Rev. Gregory Chinn delivering the eulogy, offering words of comfort and consolation; Rev. Samuel Harris is church pastor. Interment follows in Elmwood Memorial Gardens, 11313 US Highway 11, also York. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (August 4th) from 4-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. On Saturday afternoon, the processional leaves from the family residence at 1:30. Sheila was truly loved by all who knew her and she possessed a sweet and welcoming spirit. She was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Bettie Sturdivant, a brother, Timothy Sturdivant, two sisters, Brenda Sturdivant and Cherrie "Dinah" Harris and a special niece, Kelly Sturdivant. Those left to cherish precious memories and to celebrate a beautiful well-lived life are: a loving husband, Marty Lard, York, Al, three daughters: Shawanda (Timothy) Talton, Jones, AL, Tierra (Dale) Nickson, York, Al., and Sharquela Sturdivant, Tuscaloosa, AL., one son, Cody (Shaneka) Sturdivant, Chattanooga, TN; four brothers - Anthony and Michael Sturdivant, both of York, Al, Jerome (Susie) Sturdivant, Birmingham, AL., and Raynard (Felecia) Sturdivant of Athens, GA; two sisters - Yulonda (Gregory) Chinn, York, AL. and Cassandra Sturdivant of Meridian, MS; nine (9) grandchildren and one great-grand child; a special and devoted friend, Dinah Hill, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends who loved her and will miss her dearly.
