Sandra ("Linda Sue") Washington, age 58, of York, Alabama, was born December 31, 1958 in Sumter County, Alabama to the late Elizah Jones and Mattie Lee Sturdivant-Jones. Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from Mt Pleasant Baptist Church, 1000 Old Highway 11, York, Alabama. Rev. Ronnie Walk, pastor, will deliver the eulogy and offer words of comfort and consolation; interment following in the adjacent Mt Pleasant Cemetery. After the committal service, the family will have repast and fellowship at the Old Interstate Ford Building in York at 50 South College Street. Linda Sue will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (October 6th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. On Saturday morning at 10:40 a.m., the processional leaves from the residence of her sister, Mattie Williams, located at 100 F. N. Nixon Circle / Apt. 45. At a young age Sandra's Christian life began when she was baptized and became a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church of York, Alabama. Ms. Sandra was a hard worker. She worked for Moldwood Corporation for many years, later becoming employed with Avery Dennison as a machine operator until health became an issue. She was also a devoted caretaker. Sandra was dedicated to her family. Our “Sue” will be sorely missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Elizah Jones, Sr. and mother, Mattie Jones; one sister, Betty Jean Parker and one brother, Elizah Jones, Jr. Sandra departed this life and transitioned on the morning of October 2, 2017 at the University Hospital Medical Complex, Birmingham, Alabama after battling an illness. She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters: Janell and Ashley Washington, one son: Terry Washington, seven sisters: Mattie Williams, Sarah Moody, Lorene Watson, Emma McNeal, Annie Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Annetriss Hawkins; four brothers: Tommy Jones, Willie Cook, Johnny Cook, Marcus Ray Davis; eight grandchildren: Devin, Davon, Akeelah, KeAva, Willie, ZyTerrion, Mariah, Messiah, a special and devoted friend Terry Barnes and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
