Rachel Louise Artis

RACHEL LOUISE ARTIS, age 63, of York, Alabama, born to the union of Sammy D. and Bobbie N. Sturdivant Artis peacefully entered into eternal rest November 12, 2019 at the University of Alabama Medical Center, Birmingham.  Service of Memory  is slated for Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. from the Weatherly Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Calvin Finch being the officiant and Sis. Sharmiah Woods serving as Mistress Of Order.  Sister Audrey Graves is musician.  Interment follows in Home Mission Cemetery, Millville Road 19, also York.  After the committal service, repast is at the New York Town Center, downtown York. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (Nov. 22nd) from 2-5:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. She received her education in the Sumter County Public School system.  Rachel confessed Christ as her Saviour at an early age, and was devoted to her family and friends until her health failed.  She  was preceded in death by her mother, Mrs. Bobbie N. Sturdivant; a son, Bobby B. Sturdivant; a sister, Shelia Ann Sturdivant and a brother, Charles Foster. Those who remain to celebrate her life and to cherish precious memories are:  her father, Mr,. Sammy Artis; her husband, Mr Jerome Hopson;  three devoted children, Tawanda (Michael) Glover, Bridgett Artis, and Kevin Artis;  one sister, Barbara Artis;  four brothers, Larry, Sammy, Jerry and James Artis;  one aunt, Mrs. Katie (Norris) Thomas;  six grandchildren, Rasheed, Supria and Kiana Artis, Michael Glover, Jr., Adrien Artis, Daylin Artis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.   To the entire Artis and Sturdivant family, we at Weatherly Funeral Home, offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences.  Our prayer remains that your abiding faith in God will continue to comfort, to strengthen and sustain you during your many hours of sorrow.
