Pearl H. Pruitt

PEARL H. PRUITT, age 81, of York, Alabama, born the second child of five to the late Milton Huggins and Catherine Jackson, transitioned on her birthday, July 30, 2017 at the residence of her daughter (Annette Rodgers).  Service of Remembrance is Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 12:00 noon from First Baptist Church, 254 McConnell Street, York.  Rev. Jonathan Byrd, pastor, will deliver the eulogy and offer words of comfort and consolation.  Sister Pruitt will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.  Interment follows in Elmwood Memorial Gardens, Highway 11-East, also York, AL.  Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (Aug. 4th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel.  On Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m., the processional leaves from the Pruitt residence, located 806 North Broad Street.         Pearl accepted Christ at an early age and joined Eastern Star Baptist Church and later joined Rocks Chapel.  She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late M. P. Pruitt and to this union were born six children;  one daughter, Lucille Kimbrough preceded her in death.         Those left to celebrate her life and to cherish precious memories are:  five children;  Tommie (Lynn) Newton, Emelle, Al., Jimmie Huggins, Tony Pruitt, Walter Pruitt and Annette Rodgers of York, Al., three sisters;  Idena Baker and Christine Bell of York, Al., and Johnnie Pearl of Illinois;  three brothers;  Richard, Raymond and Harold Huggins of Chicago, Il;  two brothers-in-law;  Lacy Baker and Thomas Bell;  two sons-in-law;  Daniel Rodgers and Grant Kimbrough, II of Boligee, Al;  two grandsons;  (Corderia Kimbrough and Detrick Bell) who preceded her in death.  Pearl is further survived by twelve (12) grandchildren;  twelve (12) great-grandchildren;  nine (9) nieces and nephews.  She had many close and dear friends, however four close friends whom she talked with daily (sometimes several times a day) - Mary Jane Ward, Daisy Ivory, Thornell Cooper and Mary Alice Ruffin.          To the entire Pruitt family, we at Weatherly Funeral Home, offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathies and condolences.  Our prayer remains that your abiding faith in God will continue to comfort, to strengthen and sustain you during your many hours of sorrow.
