MORRELL COOK, age 60, of Cuba, Alabama, born March 14, 1961 to the union of Roosevelt Baskin and Maggie Lee Brunson-Cook, transitioned and entered into eternal rest July 9, 2021. Graveside Service of Memory and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in Pine Grove Cemetery, 3326 Walton Road 6, on the Lisman route of Yantley, Alabama. Rev. Willie D. Burton will deliver the eulogy and offer words of comfort and consolation. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (July16th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. Morrell was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Vacker L. Marsh and Larry Baskin and a sister, Cathy Robinson. He confessed his belief in Christ at an early age joining the Pine Grove Baptist Church where he remained until his passing. He was employed by logging companies for many years where he operated and ran the cutter and skittle. Morrell leaves to cherish precious memories and to celebrate his life: his lovely, devoted wife of many years, Shirley Cook; one daughter, Megan Evans, Cuba, AL; four sons, Antwoine and Morrell Cook, Jr. both of Tallahassee, FL., Laquincy and Montrell Evans of Cuba, AL; nine grandchildren - Gabriel Moore, Montrell and Jaela Evans, Jaeden Hawkins, Landen and Lake Campbell, Tyler, Triegh, Alex, Victor, Jaelyanna and Tylanna Cook; four sisters - Gertha Ree (Chester) Carnathan, Birmingham, AL, Ora L. Ruffin Lisman, AL, Chye Cook, Columbus OH, and Carolyn Ivory of York, AL; four brothers - Roosevelt, Jr., Darren "Sugar" and Antonio Baskin, all of Ward, AL, and William Baskin, Columbus, OH; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly. To his wife Shirley Evans Cook and the entire Cook Family, we at Weatherly funeral Home offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences.
