Laketta Rochelle Curry, age 41, of Huntsville, Alabama, born to the late Diane Curry Tolliver in Cuba, Sumter County, Alabama, transitioned and entered into eternal rest July 25, 2021 at 12:28 a.m. at Hospice Family Care, Huntsville. Memorial Service will be planned at a future date and at the appropriate time in the Huntsville area and also with her Alabama family. Her mother having passed when Laketta was a young child, she was raised by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Ruby Curry of Cuba, Alabama. She joined the Morning Star Baptist Church, Cuba in her youth. She attended Kinterbish Elementary School then went on to finish Sumter County High School in York, Alabama. Later after graduating high school she attended A & M University, Normal, Alabama, obtaining a degree in Business Administration Management and minored in Computer Science. Afterwards she completed an associate degree in 2020 in General Studies from Calhoun Community College, Huntsville, where she has lived for the last twenty (20) years. Her work career included being a receptionist, rental agent, sales representative and a tax preparer. Laketta accomplished all of this while succumbing to multiple organ failure, associated with much pain and suffering. She is now at peace from sickle cell anemia that she has had since birth. Those who have preceded her in death are: her mother, Diane Curry Tolliver, her maternal grandparents; an aunt, Juanita Campbell Williams, an uncle Lawrence "Soup" Campbell and her motherly aunt, Dorothy Campbell Johnson. Those who remain to cherish precious memories are: one brother, Christopher Tolliver, Atlanta, GA., one sister, Shemeka Atmore of Birmingham, AL., uncles - Robert (Louise) Curry, Jr., Bellamy, AL, Willie (Lucinda) Campbell, Ann Arbor, MI; great aunts, Lillie B. Campbell Edwards, Detroit, MI, Susie Campbell-Young, Atlanta, GA; great uncles, James (Barbara) Campbell, Atlanta, GA; Paul (Deborah) Campbell, Ypsilanti, MI; many other aunts and uncles; cousins - Daryl J. (Ashley) Campbell, and Bryan J (Crystal S.) Campbell, both of Ypsilanti, MI and Crystal L. Campbell, Boston, MA; a personal friend cousin, Anthony Campbell of Atlanta, GA. While in Huntsville, Laketta was adopted by the McGhee Family whereby she gained a mom, Marilyn McGhee, dad, sister, brother, niece and nephew beginning in 2013. Laketta is further survived by numerous friends, additional family and associates who will truly miss her.
