Kimberly Lynn Barnes, age 41 of Meridian, Mississippi was born July 10, 1980, the only child to Douglas Glenn and Betty Johnson Barnes in York, Alabama. Kim was educated in the Sumter County School System. She continued her education at Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Computer Sciences and minor in Math. She furthered her education at the University of West Alabama where she received a Masters in Math. She began her professional career at Sumter County High School for one year and later moved over to Kemper County High in Scooba, MS as a math teacher for a number of years. She later moved to Magnolia Middle School in Meridian, MS where she continued her love of teaching math and helping students learn. Kim confessed Christ at an early age where she joined the Mt. Herman Baptist Church, York, AL where she was a loyal member until her untimely passing . God plucked this beautiful flower from our garden on August 12, 2021 at Bryan Whitfield Memorial Hospital, Demopolis, AL. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparent, Johnnie Mae Cooper, her paternal grandparents Willie Glenn and Gracie Lee Barnes; two aunts, Nancy Lynn Wilson and Rosetta Johnson Hopson, and one uncle, David Johnson Jr. Those who remain to cherish her precious memories are: a loving daughter, Kyla Kirksey, her parents Douglas and Betty Barnes, Livingston, AL, aunts; Bessie (Fred) Johnson, Linda Miller, Gracie (Derrick) Oliver, and Mae Willie (Lorenza) Brown, York, AL, Ruby Dixon, Atlanta, GA, Diane (Jerome) Lewis, Tuscaloosa, AL, Joann Johnson, Buffalo, NY and Johnny R. Gibbs, Los Angels, CA; an uncle, Tommie (Laura) Cooper, Birmingham, AL, a very special friend Nicholas Young, cousins she considered siblings; Justin Oliver, Huntsville, AL and Jenia Oliver, York, AL along with a host of family and friends she loved dearly
