JOHNNIE CEPHUS "Wheezy" LARD, age 67, of Alabaster; Shelby County; Alabama, born July 10, 1953 in Lauderdale County; Mississippi to the union of Lawrence Clifton and Ethel Mae Williams Lard, transitioned and entered into eternal rest June 30, 2021 surrounded by family and loved ones in Grandview Medical Center, Birmingham. Graveside Service of Memory and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Powell Memorial Cemetery, 11305 US Highway 11, York, Alabama with Rev. Wesley Winston, pastor of Mt. Powell Baptist Church, delivering the eulogy and offering words of comfort and consolation. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (July 9th) from 3-6:00 P.M. in the Weatherly Chapel. Johnnie accepted Christ as His Savior and knew that when he departed from his earthly vessel that he would spend eternity with the Lord. He worked for Mannington Wood Flooring Company for many years. In addition, he was a DJ known as "Disco Wheezy". He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; Lonnie, Willie B. and Lawrence (PD) Lard. To cherish his precious memories and to celebrate a life well-lived are: one son, Andreas (Lynn) Lard of Alabaster, AL; one stepson, Gary Seals, Phoenix, AZ and a son he raised, Mark Ellis, Birmingham, AL; one sister, Gracie Dawson, York, AL, and one brother, Cleophus Barlow of Birmingham, AL. and a special brother-in-law, Eddie McCoy of York AL; two aunts, Pearlie Carlisle, York, AL. and Hattie Boyd of Chattanooga, TN; one grandchild, Katelyn Lard and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved him dearly and whom he also loved.
