JOHN NIXON, JR., age 73, of York, Alabama, born to the late Mary Alice Coats and John Nixon, Sr., transitioned and entered into eternal rest at his daughter, Shawntrell's residence at approximately 9:00 a.m. the morning of October 10, 2017. Memorial Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday October 14, 2017 at 12:00 noon from First Baptist Church, 254 McConnell Street in York, with Rev. Jonathan Byrd, pastor, delivering the eulogy and offering words of comfort and consolation. Repast and Fellowship is to be held at the New York Center, downtown York. Those who remain to celebrate his life and to cherish precious memories are: three (3) daughters and one son: Shawntrell W. (Quintin) Turner, York AL., LaTonya Watkins, Huntsville, AL., and Seresa Love of Meridian, MS; a son- Justine Thomas of York, AL; eleven (11) grandchildren- Danielle, Royesha, Daniel, Mario, Minda, Reginald, Shamaury, Harmony, Justine, Jr., Tyler and Corey; nine (9) great grandchildren - Jarvez, Quendraeas, Ja'Darius, ZaKaya, Deayella, Deriah, Modesty, Kayden and Marayah; siblings- a brother, Johnny P. (Rosie) Austin, and a sister, Nellie Mae McCoy, both of York, AL., several special cousins he dearly loved: Martha Lard Chisem, Renae Watkins, Priscilla Foster; a special niece, Brittany Landrum; numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews , a special friend, "Bug" and other friends who loved him dearly and he will surely be missed by all. He is preceded in death by a daughter Deborah Austin Artis, his brother, Greenberry Austin and a sister, Callie Nixon.
