Joe Eddie Mcvay

JOE EDDIE McVAY, age 62, of Cuba, Alabama, was born to the union of William Henry Webb and Susie Dennis McVay November 20, 1959. He peacefully transitioned at 10:23 a.m. January 31, 2022 at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation, York, Alabama. Graveside Service of Memory and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 1:00 p. m. in the Gibbs Family Cemetery, county road 27, also Cuba. Rev. Richard Wilson, pastor of Smith Chapel Baptist Church will deliver the eulogy, offering words of comfort and consolation with Sister Kate Brown serving as Mistress of Order. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening, February 11, 2022 from 2-5:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. Joe accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Morning Star Baptist Church in Cuba, Alabama He attended and served the Lord faithfully until his health began to fail. He graduated from Sumter County High School in 1977. He is also an Alumni of Alabama State University, Class of 1981. Joe leaves to cherish his memories: a loving mother, Susie McVay, Cuba, AL; a loving son Joshua Jones of Tuscaloosa, AL; five grandchildren - Elyis Taylor, KaTriana Jones, Jacori Jones, Zoe Fowler and Zamora Fowler; nine brothers - Robert J. Dennis, Sr. of Meridian, MS., Jesse (Maggie) Dennis, Cuba, AL Ray L. McVay Sr., York, AL., Daniel McVay, Jr., Prichard, AL, Walter L McVay, Cuba, Al., Charles H. McVay, Sr. of Memphis, TN., Bruce E. McVay, and Larry Clayton, both of York, AL., and Karon D. McVay, also Cuba; two loving sisters - Alberta Young, Cleveland, OH and Yvonne Rush of Cuba, AL; a host of nieces nephews, friends and a special friend Hazel Rodgers who loved him dearly.
