Just as everything has a beginning, Bro. Joe Lake, age 82, of York, Alabama, was born to the late Warren and Corine Lake on October 10, 1934 in Sumter County, Alabama. He confessed Christ as his personal Savior at a young age. He settled down and married his one true love, Earnestine Grant and they shared 30 years of happiness until her death October 6, 2005. Graveside Service of Remembrance is Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery, 1000 Old Highway 11, Cuba, Alabama. Rev. Richard Wilson, Jr., pastor of Smith Chapel Baptist Church, will offer words of comfort and consolation; Rev. Ronnie Walk is Mt. Pleasant's pastor. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (August 11th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. On Saturday morning at 10:40 a.m. the processional leaves from the residence of his granddaughter (Ciera Kirkland) located 911 Oswalt Avenue, York. On August 8, 2017 He was called to rest at the Sumter Health and Rehabilitation Center in York, Alabama. Those who remain to celebrate his life and to cherish precious memories are: a very special grand daughter, Ciera (Carlos) Kirkland; two sons-Rodney (Tameiko) Grant and Frank Johnson; five (5) daughters, Velma Johnson, Linda (Charles) Bell, Barbara (Douglas) Fulghum, Angela (Robert) Youngblood, and Yolanda (Willie) Williams; his loving niece Eatrice Brooks; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends who dearly loved him. He is further preceded in death by—daughters, Carrie Johnson and Stephanie Lake; a son, Reginald Grant; three brothers and three sisters.
