Janet Delaine Slaughter

Dr. Janet Renee Delaine Slaughter, age 62, of Huntsville, Alabama was born on January 1, 1960 in York, Alabama to the proud parentage of Warren and Aligee Maxwell Delaine. Janet matriculated through the Sumter County School System graduating from Sumter County High School, then attended and graduated from The University of Alabama, and continued her education until receiving her PhD in Reading and Literacy from Alabama A & M university in 2011. She was a faithful member of First Missionary Baptist Church Huntsville (3509 Blue Springs Road NW 35810) where she served as Sunday School Teacher. Funeral Services will be Friday, October 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM at her beloved First Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Dr. Don Darius Butler officiating and interment on Saturday (22nd) in Cagus Cemetery, Kinterbish 10, Cuba, Alabama. Her loving survivors are: devoted husband; Nicholas "Nick" Slaughter, loving daughter,; Erica DeLaina Sykes, her father; Warren C. Delaine, her bonus children; Rodney (Tiffany) Duncan and Ashley McCrary, brothers; Rickey and Jarvis DeLaine and Roland (Sharon) Carter, grandchildren; Kennedy, Rodney and Tyjah Duncan, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Her remains will lie in repose on Friday from 12:00 PM until the funeral hour at First Missionary Baptist Church Huntsville, and on Saturday, October (22nd) from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the Weatherly Funeral Home Chapel- York, Alabama.
