FRANCES F. PORTER, age 90, of York, Alabama, born to the late Jeff and Emma Altman Fitch in Sumter County; Cuba, Alabama transitioned and entered into eternal rest at her residence February 15, 2018. Service of Remembrance is Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. from Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Old Wire Road, Cuba, with Rev. C. L. Walk delivering the eulogy and offering words of comfort and consolation; Rev. Jared Gibbs is pastor. Sister Porter will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Interment follows in McElroy Cemetery, also Kinterbish Community of Cuba. After the committal service, repast is in the Cafeteria of York West End Jr. High School. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (Feb. 23rd) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. The processional leaves from the Porter residence, located 204 Wren Street at 12:40 p.m. Sister Frances was a faithful and dedicated member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, serving in many auxiliaries; the usher board, Missionary President, the choir, and was the Mother of the church. She also served on the Kinterbish Usher Federation and remained faithful until her health began to fail. She was married to the late Willie James Porter and to this union were born two children. Those who have preceded her in death are: her parents, son-Bobby Fitch, two sisters and six brothers. She leaves to cherish fond memories: her wonderful and devoted daughter, Glenda Fitch (Will) Ponius; two grandchildren, Dion and Brittany; three great grandchildren, Jack, Cailyn and Carlie; a host of nieces, nephews, a wonderful caregiver, Barbara Graham, a friend like a sister, Jeanette Hearn; those who were like her children, Martha Yates, Rev. Dan and Mary Richardson, Rev. Kenneth and Sylvia Bell and numerous other family and friends who loved her dearly.
