ELIZA WATKINS DELAINE, age 96, of Cuba, Alabama was born February 28, 1927 in Lisman, Alabama to Mr. and Mrs. Jocephus and Rena Grice Watkins. She transitioned and entered into eternal rest at her residence surrounded by loving family and friends on March 25, 2023. Service of Memory and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. from Grants Chapel C.M.E. Church, located 5290 Kinterbish 10, also Cuba. Pastor Izea Blanks will deliver the eulogy offering words of comfort and consolation; with interment following in Cagus Cemetery, Cuba. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (March 31st) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. At an early age, Eliza and her family moved to York, Alabama where she attended and graduated from Sumter County Training School, Livingston, Alabama, Class of 1945. On October 15, 1949 Eliza married the love of her life, James M. Delaine and they became parents and raised their family in Cuba, Alabama. She was a faithful member of Grants Chapel C.M.E. Church and she was a devoted member of Pride of York #677 Order of Eastern Star. Her love of cooking along with her excellent skill of cooking enabled her to feed the children of Kinterbish School for over 40 years as Lunch Room Manager and Dietitian. Her beloved and cherished survivors are: devoted children; Burnetta Baskin, Jeanette Lowery, Gregory (Denise) Delaine, Cassandra (Bennie) Dixon, Katrina (Quintin) Barlow, and Derrick (Sheneda) Delaine; eleven (11) grandchildren; thirteen (13) great grandchildren ; two (2) great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who loved her dearly and whom she also loved.
