Charlotte R. "Bay" Amerson, age 82, of York, Alabama, born to the union of the late Edgar and Leona Hendon Amerson in Sumter County, Alabama transitioned and entered into eternal rest December 8, 2018 at Willow Trace Nursing Center, Butler, Alabama. Service of Remembrance is Monday, December 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from Weatherly Funeral Home with Rev. Wesley Winston, (pastor of Mt. Powell Baptist Church, York) delivering the eulogy and offering words of comfort and consolation. Interment follows in Elmwood Memorial Gardens, Highway 11-East, also York, Alabama. Following the committal service, repast is in the Fellowship Hall of the adjacent Mount Powell Baptist Church. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Sunday evening, December 16th from 2-5:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. On Monday morning at 10:40 a.m. the processional leaves from the Amerson Family home house, located 308 Amerson Street, in the AGS Quarters Community. Charlotte ("Bay")leaves to cherish her memories and celebrate a beautiful life: a son, Leon (Peggy) Pope, Atlanta, Georgia; two daughters – Bobbie Pope, York, AL., and Darlene Mitchell, Tuscaloosa, AL; two grandchildren; Mahlon Pope, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Derwin Lathan DuBose, Tuscaloosa, AL; two great grandchildren – MayJohn and Alaysia Pope, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; two sisters – Margarette “Nikki” Amerson and Annie Ruth Nelson, York, AL; several nieces and nephews; four foster children – Eugene Nettles, Atlanta, Georgia, Tracy Mobley, Jackson, Mississippi, Howard Mobley, Jr., and Chris Mobley, Meridian, Mississippi and numerous other relatives and friends who loved her and whom she loved dearly.
