He was a star basketball player at Haughton High School and went on to graduate in 1973. Receiving an athletic scholarship, he attended McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas. Charles enjoyed many genres of music and sports. He was a top-notch Chess player who enjoyed challenging players of all skill levels. In 1979 he moved to Jackson, Tennessee where he met and married Deborah Yarbrough and from this union, one son was born, Joshua McDade. Even though, wheelchair-bound since August of 1993, he managed to become an active member in his local church, teaching Sunday School. Ted went on to counsel youth and young adults in the Meridian community where he had lived for the past eleven years. Charles met his special friend Jacqueline Studdard Weatherly in 1988. Their long relationship lasted throughout the most challenging years of his life and until his passing. Because of his outgoing congenial personality, Charles leaves many friends in the York, Livingston and Sumter County, Alabama area, the Meridian, MS area and countless friends in the Haughton and Princeton, Louisiana areas, along with those from Georgia and California. Additionally, Ted was truly blessed to enjoy a very caring and loving relationship with Dr. Robert and Mrs. Janet Berg of Meridian, Mississippi. Charles' mother Elnora McDade, preceded him in death. Those who remain to cherish precious memories and to Celebrate his life are his son, Joshua McDade, Jacksonville, Florida; three sisters, Velma Lott- Gladney (John) of Bossier City, Louisiana; Ruby Henderson (Milton) of Compton, California and Dorothy Lott of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Willie Lott of Long Beach, California; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends who loved him dearly and whom he also loved.
