As a child, Wayne's spiritual sunrise in Christ began at Mount Herman Baptist Church and continued until the day of his sunset. His Christian principals propelled and guided him as evidenced by the Love he proclaimed for His Lord and Savior. "Yes He heard your Cry and He knows Your Name. Well Done - So You Can Come on In." Charles has been a great part of several communities; graduating from Sumter County High School, class of 1974; while there he was a star basketball player. After graduating he moved to Detroit, Michigan and worked at A. J. Steel for numerous years. In Michigan he was a jack of many trades including a master carpenter and home renovator. He was an entrepreneur who refurbished and renovated many homes, some of them that he eventually owned. When he finally returned home to Alabama, he started to work for Weatherly Funeral Home, a work relationship that exceeded thirty years. He later rejoined Mt. Herman Baptist Church where he served as Associate Pastor until he was called Home. He was preceded in death by seven (7) brothers; Leon, Johnny, Willie, George, Jr., Ulysses, Herman and Albert McCoy; five (5) sisters - Catherine Sturdivant, Dorothy Amerson, Caroline Sims, Annie Jackson and Donnie Wade. Those left to cherish precious memories and to celebrate a beautiful legacy and well-lived life are: three (3) sons - Antoine Charles Chaney, Nashville, TN., Charles Conrad, Leander, TX. and Philip McCoy of Detroit, MI; three (3) daughters - Andreana Scott, Cleveland, OH., LaTaya Fluker, Ward, AL. and LaKenya Burks of Southfield, MI; twenty-one (21) grandchildren and two (2) great-grandchildren; two (2) sisters - Annie Maude Lightfoot and Delois Joseph, both of York, AL., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, church family and friends that loved him and whom he also loved. Truly "Billy Wayne - Big Tye" will be missed! To the entire McCoy Family we at Weatherly Funeral Home offer to you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences.
