BRUCE EDWARD McVAY, age 59, of Cuba, Alabama, was born July 24, 1964 to Daniel and Susie Dennis McVay, Sr. He peacefully transitioned February 14, 2024 at 1:15 A.M. at Ochsner Rush Health Systems, Meridian, Mississippi. Service of Remembrance and Life Celebration is slated for Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from Morning Star Baptist Church, Cuba. Rev. Dr. Marvin Langham of the New Home Baptist Church, Prichard, Alabama will deliver the eulogy; bringing words of comfort and consolation; Rev. Willie Wilson is church pastor. Bruce will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (Feb. 23rd) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. Place of interment and site of committal follows in the Morning Star Cemetery. Bruce accepted Christ at an early age and joined the Morning Star Baptist Church in Cuba. He was a dedicated hard worker who loved his job as a logger until his health prevented him from continuing his employment. Those left to cherish precious memories of him are: a loving devoted mother, Susie Dennis McVay, Cuba, AL; a loving special friend, Bernice Kirksey of York, Alabama; four (4) children; three sons and a daughter; seven (7) brothers - Robert J. Dennis, Sr., of Meridian, MS, Jesse (Margie) Dennis, Cuba, AL; Ray L. McVay, Sr., Livingston, AL, Daniel McVay, Jr., Prichard, AL, Walter L. McVay, Cuba, AL., Charles McVay, Sr., Memphis, TN., and Karon McVay. He also leaves one sister, Alberta Young, Cleveland, OH and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. To his mother, Mrs. Susie Dennis McVay and the entire McVay family, we at Weatherly Funeral Home offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences. Our prayer remains that your abiding faith in God will lend to you a measure of comfort that will strengthen and sustain you during your time of most profound sorrow.
