**Obituary for Bobbie Jean Pope Dubose**

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Bobbie Jean Dubose, a beloved educator and devoted mother, who departed this life on January 20, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on July 28, 1951, in York, Alabama.

Bobbie was a dedicated educator. After graduating from Livingston University with bachelor's and master's degrees in education, she taught at York-West End Jr. High School, Sumter County High School, and the Sumter County Alternative School. She was principal of Livingston Jr. High School and Livingston High School. In 1978, she coached the state championship girls basketball team at Sumter County High School. Her unwavering commitment to her students and the community has left an indelible mark, inspiring countless lives throughout her career.

Bobbie is survived by her cherished son, Derwin Dubose, who will carry on her legacy of love and dedication.

A Funeral Service will be held in her honor at Mt. Powell Baptist Church on Monday, January 27, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Family and friends are invited to attend a Public Viewing at Weatherly Funeral Home on January 26, 2025, from 2:00-5:00 PM, allowing all who knew and loved Bobbie to pay their respects. Following the funeral service, she will be laid to rest for Interment and Committal in Elmwood Memorial Gardens, located 11313 US Highway 11, York, AL.

Bobbie Jean Dubose will be remembered not only for her contributions to education but also for her warmth, kindness, and steadfast spirit. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her journey.
