Betty L Lard

April 29, 1935 — June 18, 2019

Betty L. Lard, age 84 of Bellamy, Alabama, born to the union of the late Robert Lake and Viola Larkin, made her peaceful transition June 18, 2019 at DCH Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Service of Remembrance is Saturday, June  29, 2019 at 11:00 am  from Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 401 Sumter 27, Cuba, Alabama with Pastor P.S. Jenkins delivering the eulogy and offering words of comfort and consolation.  Sister Lard  is to lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time with interment following in the adjacent Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (June 28th) from 3-6:00 pm in the Weatherly Chapel. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age and joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cuba, Alabama. Years later, she united with Oak Grove Baptist Church also Cuba, Alabama and remained a faithful member until her passing.  Sis. Lard was a devoted mother, wife, and was an integral part of Oak Grove Baptist church where she served as a longtime member on the usher board.  She loved life and her family. She was a prayer warrior and worshipper who did not mind making a joyful noise in the house of the Lord.  Sister Lard never met a stranger.  Her motto was to love everyone. She had a contagious smile and a winning personality to go along with it. Sister Lard was one who was loved and treasured by all. Sister Betty Lard was one of ten children.  Her siblings who have preceded her in death are: - Ola Mae Seals(York, Alabama), Archie Lake( Pensacola, Florida), Robert Lake and Arthur Lake both of (Cleveland, Ohio), Henry James Lake, Rosie Wilson and  Eskio Lake, all of ( York, Alabama).  Her remaining surviving  sibilings are: Leslie Drummond( Indianapolis, Indiana) and Mary Ella Thomas(Louisville, Kentucky). She was united in holy matrimony to the late Deacon Louis Clarence Lard on April 19, 1954. From this union, eight children were born. Her husband Deacon Louis Clarence Lard and three sons Willie James Lard (Bellamy, Alabama), Lewis Clarence Lard (Bellamy, Alabama), and Willie D. Lard (Bellamy, Alabama) preceded Sister Betty Lard in death. She leaves to cherish her memories five children. Maggie Jean Loyd( Peoria, Illinois), Ray Charles Lard Sr.(Bennie) York, Alabama,  Melvin Lard Sr. ( Leola) Bellamy, Alabama, Dianne Lard Cochran(David) Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Michael Lard Sr.(Gloria), York, Alabama. Twenty-seven grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.   To the entire Lard Family, we at Weatherly Funeral Home, York, Alabama, offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathies and condolences.  Our  prayer remains that your abiding faith in God will continue to comfort, to strengthen and sustain you during your time of bereavement.
