Bertha Mae Jemison

July 24, 1946 — November 12, 2017

       BERTHA MAE JEMISON, age 71 of York Alabama born to the late Mose and LueBirda Rodgers Jemison transitioned and entered into Eternal rest November 12, 2017 at Sumter Health and Rehabilitation, York.  Service of remembrance will be Saturday November 18, 2017 at 11 a.m. from First Baptist Church, 254 McConnell Street, York Alabama  Reverend Richard Wilson will deliver the eulogy and offer words of comfort and consolation. Reverend Jonathan Byrd is church pastor.  Sis. Jemison is to lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.  Interment to follow in Elmwood Memorial Gardens Highway 11 East York, Alabama. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening November 17th from 2:00 to 6:00  p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. On Saturday morning at 10:40 am the processional will leave from the residence of Stanley Jemison, located at 606 Rumley Road, York, Alabama.        She was preceded in death by her brothers, Sonny Jemison, James Jemison, Lewis Charles Jemison; a sister, Lula Charles Jemison, a daughter Rochelle Lard May.        Those who remain to cherish her life and precious memories are: her children; Stanley (Jacqueline) Jemison, Marty (Shelia) Jemison, Ramona Jemison all of York, Alabama; three brothers, Bobby Jemison, Willie Earl Jemison of Los Angeles, California, Thomas Jemison of Cincinnati, Ohio, a sister, Emmie (Hugh) Jackson of York, Alabama; (6) Grandchildren, Marty Jr, Amauri; Taleshia Y. Pearce, Bianca L. Love, Kevin May Jr, Keona May, all of York, Alabama; (2) great-grandchildren, Dylan J. Pearce and Madison Pearce; a special niece Tina Maria Jackson, a host of devoted  nephews, family and friends who loved her dearly she will be truly missed.        To the entire Jemison Family, we at Weatherly Funeral Home, offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences.  Our prayer remains that your abiding faith in God will continue to comfort, to strengthen and sustain you during your time of bereavement.
