Fannie Mae Cross

December 20, 1933 — March 10, 2017

 FANNIE M. "Teena" CROSS, age 83, of Epes, Alabama, born to the late Vember and Leona Jones Cross in Sumter County Alabama, entered into eternal rest March 10, 2017 in DCH Regional Medical Center, Tuscaloosa.  Service of Remembrance is Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Epes, with her nephew, Rev. Larry Yates delivering the eulogy and offering words of comfort and  consolation;  Rev. Christopher Holcombe is  church pastor.  Sis. Cross will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.  Interment follows in Jones Creek Cemetery, also Epes.  After the committal service, repast and Fellowship will be at the Epes Community Center.  Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Friday evening (March 17th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel.  On Saturday morning at 10:40 a.m. the processional leaves the Cross residence, located 33 Yates Street, Epes.      Acknowledging her faith in God at the age of ten (10), she was baptized and united with First Baptist Church, Epes, Alabama.  She was educated in the Sumter County School system;  attended Alabama A&M University, Huntsville and graduate school in Washington, D.C.  While in Washington, she was for 29 years a member of the Meridian Hill Baptist Church.  After a successful and rewarding career as a financial analyst, she retired and returned to Epes, Alabama, whereby rejoining First Baptist Church of Epes, serving in the Senior Choir and was elected President of the Missionary Society, serving in this capacity  for 11 years.      Those who remain to be comforted by her memories are:  a sister, Dorothy Mitchell, Chattanooga, TN;  nephews and nieces-  Anthony (JoAnn) Cross, Reginald (Sherry) Cross, York, AL;  Rev. Larry, Sr. (Jerlinda) Yates, Epes, Al;  Howard Mitchell, Jr., Cassandra, Monica and Tammy Mitchell, all of Chattanooga,TN;  Carolyn Yates, Washington, D.C;  other special relatives, Anthony  Cross, Jr.,  Andre and Jerrard of Atlanta, Ga., Jeremy Yates, Los Angeles, Ca; Larry Yates, Jr., Seattle, WA, Rasheeda Cross, LaTonya Thompson of Huntsville, Alabama and numerous other relatives, neighbors, church members and friends who loved her dearly and she will truly be missed by all.     To the Cross Family, we at Weatherly Funeral Home, offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy and condolences.  Our prayer remains that your abiding faith in God will continue to comfort, to strengthen and sustain you during your time of bereavement.
