Elizah Jones

    ELIZAH JONES, age 86, of York, Alabama, born in Sumter County to the late Nelson and Corine Lake Jones, passed January 21, 2016 in Specialty Hospital, Meridian, Mississippi.  Mr. Jones was a hard worker. He was a custodian for Piggly Wiggly of York for many years. Many knew him as a skilled worker for the many odd jobs he did around town. Elizah was a God fearing man who devoted his life to his family. Our “Eli” will be sorely missed. Service of Remembrance will be Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 12:00 noon from York West End Jr. High School.  Mr. Jones will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.  Rev. James Granger, pastor of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church, is to deliver the eulogy and offer words of consolation.  Interment follows in Mt Hermon Cemetery, located off of the Millville Road (County Rd. 19) in York. After the committal service, the family will fellowship and have repast in York West End's cafeteria. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled Friday evening (Jan. 29th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel.  On Saturday morning, the processional leaves the family residence which is 205 Moore Avenue at 11:30 a.m.     He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson Jones, and mother, Corine Lake; one daughter, Betty Jean Parker and one son, Elizah Jones Jr; three sisters: Sally Giles, Inell Scott, and Leve M. Flower; one brother: Henry Lake.    He leaves to cherish his memory, an adoring wife; Dazaree Jones, eight daughters: Mattie Williams, Sarah Moody, Lorene Watson, Emma McNeal, Annie Davis, Sandra “Linda” Washington, Cynithia Nixon, Annetriss Hawkins; four sons: Tommy Jones, Willie Cook, Johnny Cook, Marcus Ray Davis; (4) stepchildren, Arthur (Patricia) Cook, Clarice (Russell) Adams, Debra (Leon) Scales and Jacqueline Cook. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly.    To his wife, Dazaree Chaney Jones and the entire Jones Family, we at Weatherly Funeral Home offer to each of you our most sincere and heartfelt sympathy.
