JAMES LOUIS BROWN, age 65, of Ward, Alabama, born in Sumter County; Alabama to Sylvester and Mary Bell Roberts Brown , passed at his residence November 15, 2015. James Louis Brown was born to the parentage of Mary Bell and Sylvester Brown on March 31, 1950. His parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one brother Albert Johnson Jr. and one sister Willie Mae Altman. James earned his high school diploma from Kinterbish High School in May 1970. He was inducted into the US Army in August 1970 where he served in the Vietnam War. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he went on to further his education in Thomasville, Alabama where he obtained his certification in welding and fabrication and also became a licensed auto mechanic. James accepted Christ at an early age and joined Union Chapel C.M.E. Church in Ward, Alabama. James was a faithful member and diligently served as assistant secretary of Sunday school as long as he was able. James met and later married Edna Coleman. To this union they bore one son, two daughters and he gained one stepson. He was preceded in death by his eldest son Mitchell. He was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 15, 2015. He leaves to forever cherish his memories three daughters; Latora “Tracye” Coleman of Ward, Alabama, Stacye A. Coleman-Sampson (Walter) of Dallas, TX and Barbara Drummond of York, Alabama. One stepson, Sgt. Major Timothy J. Coleman of Baltimore, Maryland. Three grandsons, Mitchell Jamar Coleman of Montevallo, Alabama, Jamari and Tyler Drummond of York, Alabama. One granddaughter, Joi Ameia Letrice Dawson of Dallas, Texas. Also ,he had one step granddaughter Tavelyn Danae Coleman of Baton Rouge Louisiana. Two brothers, Ike Talison (Lucille) of Los Angeles, California and Jerry Brown of Ward, Alabama. Five sisters Emma Lindsey (Jimmy), Dorothy Kelly (Norman), Ruby Williams, Yvonne Carroll (Rick) all of Los Angeles, California, and Erma Jean Bollar of Cuba, Alabama. He also had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Service of Remembrance is November 21, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Union Chapel CME Church, interment with military detail following in Coakes Chapel Cemetery, both in Ward. Mr. Brown is to lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for November 20, 2015 from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel.
