GRACIE MAE LEE GIBBS, age 82, of Cuba, Alabama, passed July 23, 2015 in Birmingham, Alabama at UAB Medicine of Highlands. Service of Remembrance will be August 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 9556 Mt. Olive Church Road, Lauderdale, Ms. Rev. Sis. Mary Garrett will deliver the eulogy and offer words of consolation; Rev. Kenneth Vaughan is pastor. Sis. Gibbs will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Interment follows in the Gibbs Family Cemetery, Cuba. Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for 3-6:00 p.m. Friday evening (July 31st) from the Weatherly Chapel.
Those who remain to cherish precious memories and to celebrate her life are: one son: Moses (Sandra) Gibbs, Meridian, Ms.; four loving and devoted daughters; Carrie Gibbs, Thelma Burton, Ollie (Ennis) Johnson, all of Cuba, Al., and Brenda (Eugene) Samuel of Birmingham, Al., a grandson she raised as her own, Eddie Gibbs of Meridian, Ms., a nephew she raised, Leroy (Toma) Lee of Lauderdale, Ms; three sisters- Carrie Naylor, Alberta Fluker and Mattie Overstreet, all of Meridian, Ms., one brother- William Lee of Tuscaloosa, Al., a daughter-in-law, Shirley N. Gibbs, Lauderdale, Ms., a sister-in-law, Josephine Portis, Conway, S.C., a special in-law that treated her like a sister, Gracie Lee Webb of York, Al., twenty two (22) grandchildren; thirty four (34) great grandchildren; five (5) great-great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends that loved her dearly.
