Alma Ruth Nelson, age 64, of York, Alabama, born to the late Rastus and Janie Mae Hale Nelson, passed July 6, 2015 at Hill Hospital of Sumter County. Service of remembrance is Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. from Truevine Fellowship, located 406 Marcus Street, also in York. Pastor Willie Davis will deliver the eulogy and offer words of consolation. Sister Nelson will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time. Interment follows in the “Garden of Hope” section of Elmwood Memorial Gardens, Highway 11 East in York, Alabama. Visitation for family and friends is Friday evening (July 10th) from 3-6:00 p.m. in the Weatherly Chapel. Those who remain to cherish precious memories and to celebrate her life are: (5) sons- Orlando Omar (Michelle) Nelson Sr., Cuba Al., Boris Nelson, York, Ala., John R. (LeAnde) Avery of Hepzibah, Ga., Corey (Shawnda) Nelson, Augusta, Ga., Rastus (Simmone) Nelson of Hinesville, Ga; a daughter- Dawn B. Avery of Atlanta, Ga., (12) grandchildren-Ronald, Jasmine , Brittany, Adriana, Orlando Jr., Jasmine A., Marcus, Najae, Janae, Quantavis , Jakyle and DeVante’; two nephews, Derrick Nelson and the late Police Chief Dion Nelson, both of York, Ala; a great- great nephew, Levi; a devoted care-giver sister, Mable Nelson of York, Ala., Silliman Hale who was like a brother of New Orleans, La; her sister-in-law, Annie Ruth Nelson of York, Alabama; a special friend, Roosevelt Sims of Toxey, Alabama, and a host of other cousins, relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
